In this 3D art piece, "Tied," I wanted to capture the essence of emotional intelligence as explored in Daniel Goleman's book. The red threads symbolize the intricate web of our emotions and the powerful connection between our rational minds and our feelings.

The hands in the sculpture are bound tightly, representing the times when we feel emotionally overwhelmed, just like when people with high IQs may flounder despite their intellectual capabilities. The threads symbolize our self-awareness, self-discipline, and empathy—the core components of emotional intelligence.

Nevertheless, much like Goleman's assertion that emotional intelligence is not a fixed trait, these red threads, while temporarily restrictive, are by no means unbreakable.

The artwork conveys a message—that with proper guidance and the right emotional tools, one can learn to navigate the turbulent waters of their emotions, nurture self-awareness, and

strengthen empathy.
