 and for hope to shine brighter than loneliness.

🌿 Introducing HeARTful Olive: Growing Abilities, Nurturing Leaders

At Soul HeARTful, we believe every person carries unique gifts — not defined by their limitations, but by their courage, creativity, and spirit. Out of this belief, a new initiative was born: HeARTful Olive.

🌱 Why “Olive”?

The olive tree is a timeless symbol of peace, resilience, and renewal. It weathers harsh seasons yet continues to grow, branch by branch, year after year. Much like the olive, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) often face tough conditions — from discrimination to limited opportunities — yet with the right nurturing, their strengths and leadership can flourish.

🎨 What is HeARTful Olive?

HeARTful Olive is an employment and capacity-building program designed to train and empower PWDs as changemakers.

Instead of being seen only as “beneficiaries,” we are shifting narratives, helping them step into roles as guides and contributors, and learning reflective art and psycho-educational topics alongside trained art therapists, counsellor, and psychologists.

Through mentorship, structured practice, and ongoing support, HeARTful Olive aims to:

• 🌸 Build confidence and self-expression.

• 🌸 Create meaningful roles in facilitation and peer support.

• 🌸 Provide income opportunities while nurturing leadership.

• 🌸 Show the wider community that disability does not define ability.
  

🌟 Stories in Bloom

• Lynn — A natural encourager with bold creativity, Lynn brings steady “fairy” energy to our circles. She’s developing her facilitation voice and often anchors check-ins with warmth and honesty. Lynn loves pointillism/dot art and collage, using tiny marks to build powerful pictures — a beautiful metaphor for small daily steps adding up to strength. Her mantra: “I move forward to change the things that can be changed.”

• Jane, who bravely battled a brain tumor in 2006 and still faces the effects of treatment, now channels her resilience into supporting others.

• Li Ting, a gentle young lady with a sharp mind and endless curiosity, is finding her voice as a facilitator.

• Sebastian, a devoted husband and father who lost his sight to glaucoma during COVID, is now training in art therapy facilitation while emerging as a songwriter within our community.

Each of them—and more to come—reminds us that leadership, empathy, and creativity grow in many forms.

HeARTful Olive is more than just a program. It is part of our vision to shift narratives in society:

From seeing Persons with Disabilities as beneficiaries…to recognising them as leaders, creators, and changemakers.

By planting these seeds today, we hope to grow a stronger, more inclusive forest tomorrow — where every voice is valued, and every story has space to be told.
